My Experience with Effective Team Leadership in Software Engineering: Mastering Roles, Demonstrating Impact
As a seasoned software engineer assuming team lead roles, I have cultivated a set of essential qualities and skills that contribute significantly…

Great leaders are never recognized enough. You can’t count how many times I will pour out my knowledge and offer guidance for free to friends, colleagues, and mentees to enable them to meet their goals. When working in a team, I’d prioritize the goal of the project and also assist every team member selflessly in ways necessary to contribute to the success of the project – by deploying organizational and time management tricks – just to ensure no one falls short.
I believe leadership reflects whether one is appointed leader or not. So, when I am not leading, I’d be supporting the leader by being a devoted follower and helper making the leader’s goal easier to achieve.
For me, the job must be done and the doers must enjoy the process of pushing themselves to do their best. This enables me to ensure that both the company and staff are achieving their best goals.
I love to see people shine and perform excellently in their roles. Could that be a flaw? Well, I can’t tell because after leading sometimes I feel empty and unappreciated, especially when people devalue my efforts and think it’s no big deal.
Looking back, I have intentionally grown my skills and passion for effective and selfless leadership since 2010 in high school when I was made a “school prefect” and failed to organize the students and achieve school prefect goals in the first few months. I cried for a few days and sought counsel from a teacher, which sparked the fire. As a result, I graduated from high school as one of the most influential and effective prefects. Following that, I have led tech teams, tech departments, and media departments, directly managed and mentored people, and worked closely with leaders and superiors.
However, since then and to date this is the first time I have felt so appreciated.
For all the extra miles covered to lead excellently, sternly but yet emphatically, Eloghene this is for you 😊
Special shoutout to Riley Spicer for their interest in helping me lead on a larger scale.
NB: I am currently job hunting and would be open to discussing opportunities to collaborate with you or your team.
